  • “Grandma,” asked Noni, “How do you say I love you in Igbo – the language we speak in Nigeria?”

Award-winning author, Uzo Unobagha, and illustrator, Victoria Krassa, have teamed up to create an eloquent and universal story on the meaning of love.
Noni does not like to help her parents with chores till Grandma Oma comes to visit from Nigeria and shows her that chores can be fun and that love is what you do for others.
Skillfully weaving lyrical text and authentic illustrations, author and illustrator showcase fashions and traditions of an immigrant family in America, blending two cultures.

Uzo Unobagha is the award-winning author of OFF TO THE SWEET SHORES OF AFRICA and other Talking Drum Rhymes, an ALA Notable Children’s Book. She is also a contributing author to The Milestones Project, a 2005 CBC Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. She has a B.A. History Degree from the University of Nigeria, LL.B. and LL.M. Law Degrees from the University of Southampton, England, and is currently a Public School Teacher. She lives in New York with her husband, and their children.
